Cambria Center for the Arts is planning a reception for artists Linda Huggins and Gayle Sewell to kick off their art show, “Central Coast Impressions,” which runs from July 9 through Aug. 2. The reception will be from 5:30 to 7 p.m. on Friday, July 10 at the center, 1350 Main St. in Cambria.
Both artists’ works reflect their love of nature, especially that found along the Central Coast. Huggins captures her subjects through plein air paintings, while Sewell creates clay vessels this through her soft, romantic plein air paintings. Sewell’s love comes through in her clay vessels, the surfaces of which she has carved, pierced, sculpted, and sometimes embellished with sea glass.
The Cambria Center for the Arts Gallery is open from 1 to 5 p.m. Thursday and Friday, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, and from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday. Information: 927-8190.
