Ruta Saliklis has been selected juror for the Fall Juried Art Show, which runs through October at the Cambria Center for the Arts.
Saliklis is curator and director of exhibitions at the San Luis Obispo Museum of Art (SLOMA), a position she has held since 2011. There, she oversees 24 exhibitions a year.
Her choices for Cambria’s Fall Juried Art Show will be revealed Friday, Sept. 29, when awards will be presented at the opening reception from 5:30 to 7 p.m. The event will include live music, a wine bar and refreshments.
Saliklis received her Ph.D. in textiles and design at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, having earned her master of fine arts degree in museum studies from Syracuse University. She earned a bachelor’s in comprehensive studio art with a minor in art history from the University of Illinois at Chicago.
Before joining SLOMA, Saliklis worked in development at the San Diego Zoo and Cal Poly. She has also worked as associate director at the Ball State University Museum of Art and as curator of textiles at the Allentown Art Museum.
Entries for the juried show will be accepted from 10 a.m. to noon Tuesday, Sept. 26, at the arts center. Entry fees are $15 per piece for Allied Arts members and $30 per piece for nonmembers. Cash awards will be made for winners and honorable mentions.
Two- and three-dimensional art will be accepted, with a maximum of two pieces per artist. There is no set theme. Entry forms are available at the center, through the center’s website, and at the time of drop-off.
The show runs through Oct. 29. The Cambria Center for the Arts is housed in the Old Cambria Grammar School at 1350 Main St., between the East and West Villages. Gallery hours are 1 to 4 p.m. Thursday and Friday, and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Gallery admission is free.
