About 100 members of the Los Padres Center of the California Conservation Corps (CCC) will take part in a volunteer workday Oct. 17 on the Fiscalini Ranch Preserve.
The workday is part of an effort by the CCC, nonprofit groups and California businesses to work on environmental projects across the state. Local service clubs and other volunteers are urged to participate.
Locally, the four-hour workday will include erosion control and repair on a trail near the north Windsor entrance; chipping along the forest loop trail (CCC volunteers only because of liability and heavy equipment); and ice plant removal along the bluff trail.
Volunteers should meet at the Veterans Memorial Building parking lot at 8 a.m. They will then split into work groups based on their skills and interests and work at various sites on the ranch. After the workday is complete, volunteers will meet at the VFW dining area for a barbecue lunch.
