A Food Bank program is providing free summertime morning snacks on most weekdays in July to Cambria and San Simeon children and teens 18 and younger. No ID or personal information is required to participate.
A morning snack is provided from 9:30 to 10 a.m. Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays through July 24 at the Cambria Library, 1043 Main St. However, the service won’t be offered on Friday, July 3.
Library staffers said the snack offerings could include yogurt, fruit, sunflower seeds, nuts, crackers, juice boxes and milk.
Slightly heartier assortments are provided at the community room of Oceanside Inn, 9490 Avonne Avenue, San Simeon, from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. Mondays through Thursdays from July 6 through July 30.

The website notes that “during the school year, 16,000 of the children in our county participate in the Free-or-Reduced-Priced School Meals program at school, which provides them with a meal during the day. Unfortunately, during the summer break these children no longer have access to these meals.” The Food Bank’s program helps fill that summertime nutritional gap for a while.
