Kambria Wesch Doherty, 36, died April 8, 2015.

The Santa Lucia Middle School teacher had doggedly fought a rare, aggressive form of metastatic cancer since late 2012.

Doctors found the cancer shortly after the birth of Doherty’s third child, Willow.

Since then, Doherty used email and social media to keep in touch with her tech-savvy seventh- and eighth-grade science students, even returning to teaching part time for a while.

After Santa Lucia students returned to school from spring break April 13, they were told that their beloved teacher had lost her battle against the cancer.

Doherty is survived by husband Gavin Doherty; their three children Griffin, Kirra and Willow; her

father, Garry Wesch (her mother, Deborah, died in December 2013); siblings Trevor, Stacey and Garrett; other family members; many friends; and a school filled with mourning students.

A private memorial service has been scheduled.

An online fundraiser is designed to raise money to help her children. For details, go to  www.youcaring.com/family-fundraiser/kambria-wesch-doherty-her-life-was-amazing-/312290.
