During Mission Country Disposal’s free spring cleanup days, Cambria residential customers can discard more garbage, recycling and greenwaste on their regular trash days. Up to two bulkier items also can be picked up for a small fee, but for those, arrangements must be made at least one week in advance.
From Monday, April 20 through Friday, April 24, each customer can set out at the curb up to 12 bundles, bags and containers of discards, which can be mixed and matched in separate containers that should be set out in a manner that doesn’t block the usual waste-wheelers.
All items, including waste-wheelers, must be at the curb by 6:30 a.m. on the regular trash day. The semi-annual cleanup services are free, but hauling away bigger items costs $10 per item; overly large items requiring two men will cost more. Passenger car tires cost $5 each, with a maximum of four.
For details or to arrange for big-item pickup, call 543-0875 at least one week before the regular collection day to describe the more cumbersome items (appliances, couches, televisions, water heaters, mattresses, etc.), so a separate, properly equipped truck can be dispatched.
