CDM Smith has a new person in charge at the Cambria Community Services District’s emergency water supply project.
Gregg Cummings, senior project manager at CDM Smith, took over after former EWS project manager Mari Garza Bird began her new job with Black & Veatch in San Francisco, where she’s been for a couple of months as a client director for designing and building water projects.
CCSD board president Gail Robinette said recently that “the timing was perfect for the district,” because Garza-Bird prefers to design and build projects, while much of Cummings’ experience is in operational management.
The project is nearing the end of its trial run, which was to have ended April 10 but has been extended to April 30.
Cummings has about 30 years of experience in civil and environmental engineering, with expertise in water and wastewater treatment, water reuse, utility design and membrane technologies, according to a newsletter introduction at www.weat.org/ central.
