Greenspace geology and wildflower walk at Montana de Oro

David Chipping will lead a Greenspace wildflower and geology walk from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. April 11 at Moñtana de Oro State Park

The walk will explore the geology of the park, along with its abundant native floral inhabitants, including poppies, shooting stars and lupine.

Chipping is a professor of geology at Cal Poly and conservation chairman of the San Luis Obispo Chapter of the California Native Plant Society.

The walk is fairly easy. Participants should wear sturdy shoes and sunscreen and/or a hat. A box lunch from Indigo Moon in Cambria is included in the $40 cost. Participants must provide their own transportation to the park or call Greenspace to carpool.

Reservations are required. Those interested should RSVP early, as space is limited to 30 participants. For information, call Connie Gannon, executive director of Greenspace, at 927-2866.
