Construction of the new Main Street Bridge in Cambria has entered its final phase, with the associated road closure on track to end Friday, Oct. 17.
The San Luis Obispo County Department of Public Works said late last week that the bridge and roadway between Eton Road and Santa Rosa Creek Road are scheduled to open on that date.
The reopening date has twice been delayed, first from Oct. 3 to Oct. 10, then to the current Oct. 17 target date.
After the closure period ends, two-way traffic will be able to proceed along Main Street, other than occasional lane closures with flagging to complete the project’s final stages. Impact on traffic is expected to be minimal.
Souza Construction of San Luis Obispo is building the $3.5 million project, which began in July 2013 and is scheduled to continue through November.
