Vote-by-mail ballots available Monday

Vote-by-mail ballots for the 2014 midterm election will be available starting Monday, Oct. 6, which is also when they’re to be mailed out to voters who’ve already requested them.

As of Tuesday, Sept. 30, according to the Elections Division, nearly 60 percent of San Luis Obispo County voters — 88,416 out of 147,504 registered voters — had “permanent absentee” status and always get their ballots by mail.

Vote-by-mail or absentee ballots also can be requested on a one-time basis. Completed ballots can be mailed or hand-delivered to the county’s Election Division, or turned in at any polling place on Election Day.
