The ride, starting at 7 a.m. and ending at 5 p.m., will feature about 1,200 cyclists, most of them experienced riders.
Participants will ride on Highway 1 between Morro Bay High School and Piedras Blancas, as well as on Old Creek Road and Highway 46 between Vineyard Drive and Highway 1.
Old Creek Road should be clear of riders no later than 11 a.m. Roads in the Cambria area should be clear of riders between 3 and 4 p.m.
The Lighthouse Bike Ride for Charities is one of the club’s two annual events to raise money for local high school and college scholarships and to support local nonprofits.
This year, the club is donating more than $74,000 to San Luis Obispo County schools and nonprofit organizations.
The bike club has rented a water truck to provide all water needs for bicyclists at the rest stops and lunch stop in Cambria so no Cambria water will be used. SLO County Bike Valet will help park bikes at Shamel Park in Cambria.
The bike club is paying to have additional CHP units and Morro Bay police officers patrol the route.
