With only three dates remaining, Cambria’s annual campaign to send holiday gift packages to local men and women serving on active military duty is nearing its goal. American Legion Post No. 432 Commander Brian Griffin expressed confidence that every military member from Cambria, Cayucos, and San Simeon would receive a package in time for Christmas.
A contribution table will operate from 2:30 to 5 p.m. on Fridays, Dec. 6 and 13, at Cambria Farmers Market, 1000 Main St. Another contribution point will be stationed from 9 to 11:30 a.m. Monday, Dec. 9, at the Cambria Post Office, 4100 Bridge St.
“Some of our military are serving at lonely outposts in harm’s way,” Griffin said. “So generosity of our residents is a great morale booster.”
Students from Santa Lucia Middle School, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, Cub Scouts, 4H and other local volunteers will pack boxes in time for worldwide delivery before Christmas.
Requested tax-deductible contribution for each package is $30. Smaller donations also are welcomed to help defray the costs of postage and shipping materials. Checks can be mailed to the Legion at P.O. Box 697, Cambria, 93428, with “TS2” noted in the memo space.
