Cambria Chorale sets season calendar

The Cambria Chorale began its 23rd fall season on Tuesday, Sept. 11. Weekly rehearsals will continue on from 9 to 11 a.m. Tuesdays at the Joslyn Recreation Center, 950 Main St.

Prospective members, men and women, who find joy in the camaraderie of group singing, are welcome.

The chorale performs two concerts a year: the Holiday Concert in December and the Spring Concert in May. During the Christmas season they also entertain at other venues such as Bayside and Casa de Flores in Morro Bay and others.

This year’s Holiday Concert, “The Spirit of Christmas,” will be held at 3 p.m. on two Sundays, Dec. 9 and 16. The chorale’s first appearance will be at the Joslyn Center on Dec. 6 for Cambria’s Hospitality Night.

Director Barbara Weber has been busily preparing another exciting Christmas program. Selections will include “O Holy Night,” “I’ll Be Home for Christmas,” a Christmas carol medley and other popular holiday music. To enhance the performance, the chorale will be joined by harpist Penny Beavers.

Money raised through chorale concerts and private donations is used to fund the Cambria Youth Music Fund, which provides music lessons for students who show talent in vocal or instrumental music, and need financial assistance to continue with their musical training.

For details, call chorale President Barbara MacDonough at 927-2989.
