County Sheriff Ian Parkinson will be auctioned off Friday, June 15, in an effort to send 26 children from 15 San Simeon and Cambria families to YMCA camp at Cambria Grammar School.
The fundraising event from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at Rabobank, 1070 Main St., Cambria, will also feature silent auctions, including: a patrol ridealong with Senior Deputy Todd Steeb of Cambria; Three Sisters cuvee wines donated by Hearst Ranch Winery; a light-weight alloy, Shimano-equipped, 21- speed Genesis Ground Force V-2100 Mountain Bike donated by the Sheriff’s Office; and an original wood artwork made specially for the event by Brooks Lawrence of the Brooks Gallery in San Simeon.
Appetizers donated by local residents will be served.
The winning bidder for Parkinson will be able to spend an afternoon with Parkinson, including: a tour of the sheriff’s facility, including the jail, shooting range and communication center; a viewing of specialized vehicles, including the SWAT (special weapons and tactics) armored car and command vehicle; and the opportunity to experience realistic shooting scenarios in the sheriff’s shooting simulation trailer.
