Driver, child hurt in accident Sunday

A lcohol was a factor in an accident in Cambria Sunday night, June 10, that resulted in injuries to the 35-year-old female driver and a 5-year-old child, a neighborhood power outage and the arrest of the driver, according to a CHP report.

Elizabeth S. Perry of San Luis Obispo was driving a 2009 Chevrolet Heritage High Roof at a high rate of speed on Ardath Drive just before 11 p.m. when she drove straight through a curve and into a power pole just east of Haddon Drive, the CHP said.

Both occupants were taken to Sierra Vista Regional Medical Center. Perry suffered a fractured spine. The child had what were described a moderate injuries.

Perry was arrested at the hospital for driving under the influence in an accident that caused injury and for felony child endangerment. She was immediately released back into the hospital’s custody due to her injuries. —Staff
