The 10th annual “Sculpture By The Sea” show at Camp Ocean Pines is coming up from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, April 28, at Camp Ocean Pines, 1473 Randall Drive in Cambria.
The public can take a free look at the fruits of a week’s labor by participants in the annual California Sculptors Symposium. A barbecue lunch will be served from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. for $10.
Works in stone, metal, clay and wood will be on display. Artists will also be working on ongoing projects in the camp’s meadow in pines overlooking the ocean.
This years’ show will be juried by Bela Bacsi, a Fellow of the National Sculpture Society, the oldest organization of professional sculptors in the United States.
Sculptor John Fisher is in the second of what’s expected to be a three-year effort to carve a 2.5-ton block of Italian marble, chipping away to find and free a three-dimensional image.
Fisher plans to finish during next year’s symposium. Then, the work will be sold at a public auction, with a portion of the proceeds to benefit Camp Ocean Pines, a nonprofit operation.
