People can learn at an upcoming workshop how the Coast Unified School District plans to continue dealing with budget issues, including recent and future cuts in state funding.
District Superintendent Chris Adams will lead the discussion to be held from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Monday, May 10, at the Old Grammar School, 1350 Main St.
Adams expects to explain various aspects of school budgeting, including:
• Where the district gets its money;

• How those funds are spent;
• State budget cuts, including those imposed in the past two years and those that are proposed for the next two years;
•How the district’s financial condition compares to that of other districts in San Luis Obispo County; and
• How Adams and the school board plan to address budgets over the next few years.
Adams plans for the evening to be “informational and educational” but he realizes “that this is a huge undertaking,” and he anticipates he may need to hold a second workshop to finish covering all the topics.
