Cambria Historical Museum. Local history in the Guthrie-Bianchini House, a home dating back to 1870. Gift shop with books and mementos. Corner of Burton Drive and Center Street. Food donation collection unopened canned foods and packages of dry food by the Lions Club of Cambria for local distribution. 2:30 to 4 p.m. Fridays in the yellow building in the Pinedorado Grounds parking lot for the Cambria Farmers Market at 1000 Main St. Items that need refrigeration or are past their expiration date cannot be accepted.

Senior Nutrition Program lunch, 11:45 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Monday through Friday at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 2700 Eton Road. $2.75. 927-1268.

Volunteers Needed

Cambria Adult Resources, Education and Support

(CARES) provides an adult day program for cognitively impaired adults and resources, education and support to caregivers. CARES welcomes volunteers to become “best friends” to members and assist with programs. Activities include music, fitness, crafts, dancing and more. 927-4290.

Cambria’s Anonymous Neighbors needs volunteers to drive seniors to medical appointments throughout San Luis Obispo County. 927-5673.

The Cambria Community Council needs volunteer drivers for the Cambria Community bus. If you have a good driving record, call 927-1147.

Cambria Community Emergency Response Team volunteers to learn about emergency preparedness. After training, the volunteers become part of team of more than 100 Cambrians who can help emergency workers in case of earthquake, tsunami, wild fire and rain and windstorms. Emergency response training. The Cambria Fire Department will hold a 20-hour training class on Tuesdays and Thursdays starting at 6 p.m. Feb. 2. 927-6240. The Cambria Historical Society needs volunteer docents to help at the Cambria Historical Museum at the Guthrie-Bianchini House. 927-2891. www.cambriahistoricalsociety.com.

Caring Callers needs individuals for an hour a week to visit with a frail or socially isolated senior. Visit the doctor, read a book, take a drive or just sit and talk. Build a friendship and help meet an important need in the community. 541-1800.

Friends of the Elephant Seal is looking for volunteer docent guides. Docent duties include standing on the bluff and talking to visitors as well as other tasks. Volunteers are also needed to work in the FES office in San Simeon or for FES’ educational programs. 924-1628.

The Homeless Animal Rescue Team (HART) needs volunteers for its “clean team.” Morning shifts are open for two hours each week to clean and feed rescued animals at 1500 Main St. 927-RESQ (927-7377).

The Learning Center at the Community Presbyterian Church needs volunteers for the after-school program. Help with homework and supervise play at 2250 Yorkshire Drive from 3 to 5 p.m. Mondays and Tuesdays; 2 to 5 p.m. Wednesdays. 927-1365.

The North County Women’s Shelter and Resource Center in Atascadero needs volunteers to provide services for North County and North Coast residents. Volunteers provide transportation, child care, court accompaniment and help with fundraising and brochure distribution. Two emergency shelters, crisis intervention, case management, counseling (including on-campus programs), restraining order assistance, advocacy and referrals for victims of domestic violence are provided. 461-1338. 549-8989 (after hours).

The San Simeon Chamber of Commerce needs volunteers. Visitors come to the office from all over the world. 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. 927-3500.

The Senior Nutrition Program needs volunteers to help serve lunch from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Mondays through Fridays at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 2700 Eton Road, Cambria. Volunteers serve lunch at the facility or drive meals to seniors at their homes. 927-1268.

State parks need volunteers. Work at visitor desks and nature stores, lead public walks, tend native plant gardens, develop exhibits, help with publicity and lead programs for schools and youth groups. Training provided. 528-8578. 772-2694, ext. 105. www.ccnha.com.
