Cambria resident Bill Seavey will present a free rainwater harvesting program Saturday, Sept. 12, at his home on Lodge Hill.
Seavey’s program will feature do-it-yourself approaches to reasonably priced rainwater collection and storage. Starting with a 1,100-gallon poly tank he sited and connected to roof downspouts in 2010, Seavey has expanded to incorporate various methods of collection and vessels for storage. Various components for water collection and saving will be displayed.
Seavey, whose “Green Savings” column appears quarterly in The Cambrian, will also demonstrate his backup portable emergency solar-powered system, which can run water pumps and other appliances in an outage. (For more information, see www.powerfromsun.com).
A representative of Grey Hub Irrigation in Paso Robles will demonstrate a system developed in Australia that conditions gray water for irrigation and watering.
Seavey has presented his concepts at environmental events and seminars in the area. The Sept. 12 event will take place at 1978 Londonderry Lane.
