Bruce Fosdike will lead a discussion Tuesday, Feb. 27, as Cambria’s FireSafe Focus Group details how, when and why to prepare for fire at a free public forum from 3 to 5 p.m. at the Cambria Veterans Memorial Building, 1000 Main St.
Fosdike, CalFire training officer and focus group member, will speak at the event, the second in a series of four. Fosdike will detail specifics on how to plan for emergencies; his talk follows up on January’s presentation by author Sandra Younger, who survived the massive Cedar Fire in San Diego County.
How does the Fire Department see your home and your neighborhood? Have you and your neighbors created defensible space? What exactly is defensible space? Fosdike will answer questions such as these using the CalFire “Ready, Set, Go” plan created to help people survive fires and other natural disasters.
Among the topics to be covered: knowing when to leave, where to go and what to do if everything goes wrong. Do you have a plan for your pets? And what about those go-bags? Fosdike takes the bags a step further with a “go-bucket” that covers all the bases in an evacuation.
