Coast Union Cyber Patriot teams advance to state semifinals

Coast Union’s two Cyber Patriot teams have qualified for the state semifinals this coming Saturday, Feb. 10. In the most recent competition, Jan. 19, to be eligible, Coast’s teams needed to be ranked in the top 25 percent of the 805 teams competing. Indeed Coast’s teams achieved sixth and 54th place overall, according to CUHS instructor Ayen Johnson.

This competition is designed to give students training for possible vocations as IT professionals in the areas of cybersecurity and other sciences. The Coast Union students involved in the two teams are: Trent Ferguson; Luis Plascencia; Alam Romo; Jonathan Jewel; Antonio and Crecencio Antunez; Daniel Dubnow; Axel Beccerril; and Jack Azevedo.
