Gas tax should only go to roads
No one says our streets and highways don’t need fixing. When our gas tax was raided in the mid-1960s and lumped into the general fund, it was the beginning of the end.
We need a guarantee our gas tax monies will only be used for road improvements. Then, and only then, will I support a reasonable hike.

Republicans gather at Cambria home
Saturday there was a wonderful gathering of Cambria Republicans at the home of John and Elizabeth Ehlers. The event was organized by Cambrian Anne Bennet.
About 60-70 citizens heard presentations from D.A. Dan Dow, Sheriff Ian Parkinson, Supervisor Lynn Compton, congressional hopeful Justin Fareed and Supervisor hopeful Patrick Sparks from Morro Bay.
There was no name calling or nastiness. We heard candidates who stand on their principles, respectfully disagree with their opponents and want to work for the people.
I was also able to raise my voice and encourage all to voice their opinions by writing letters to the editor and talking to friends. It is the American way.
I am grateful that I live in a democracy. God Bless America.
