Good News about Taylor Tucker, Glean SLO and Still Frothy Surf Festival

Cuesta College

The local P.E.O. (Philanthropic Educational Organization) chapter has awarded second-year Cuesta College nursing student Taylor Tucker a $1,400 grant from the P.E.O. Program for Continuing Education.

The need-based grant program provides onetime financial assistance to women whose education has been interrupted and have returned to school to complete a degree or certification.

Pismo Beach

The 7th Annual Wine, Waves & Beyond fundraising event raised $28,903.86 for Glean SLO and a $7,021 from Rabobank for the Still Frothy Surf Festival.

Glean SLO, a program of the Food Bank Coalition of San Luis Obispo County, provides fresh produce donated by farmers and backyard growers, which is picked by volunteers and distributed to local food banks.

The Still Frothy Surf Festival, a major sponsor of WW&B, encourages youths to discover surfing as an alternative to online activities and playing video games. It is a free competition for kids 17 and under.

The event celebrates classic surf culture, Central Coast wines, artisan brews, farm-fresh and seaport-inspired cuisine, live music and more.
