Good News about Victoria Garcia, Nestor Vasquez, SLO Garbagemen’s Association and Cayucos Garden Club

Victoria Garcia of Nipomo FFA has received a scholarship from the National FFA Organization.

Nipomo

Victoria Garcia of the Nipomo FFA has been awarded the Bill Kirk Endowment scholarship of $1,000 by the National FFA Organization.

She was selected based on her leadership, academic record, supervised agricultural work or work experience, and FFA, school and community activities.

Garcia plans to pursue a degree at Cal Poly.

Arroyo Grande

Arroyo Grande High School graduate Nestor Vasquez recently received the John McInerney Memorial Scholarship of $1,000 from the Arroyo Grande Lions Club.

Vasquez plans to attend Chico State University in the fall to study criminology and astronomy.

He is the son of Ernesto Vasquez of Arroyo Grande.

SLO County

The San Luis Obispo County Garbagemen’s Association recently made two $2,000 contributions to both the Senior Nutrition Program and the Food Bank Coalition of SLO County.

The two organizations were chosen to receive the grant by San Luis Obispo County 2nd District Supervisor Bruce Gibson.

Cayucos

The Cayucos Garden Club recently installed new officers for 2016 through 2018.

The new officers include:

Jann Rooker, president; Bonnie Little, vice president; Betsy Watts, treasurer; Maggie Johnson, secretary; Margaret Ann Bretz and Pat Moon, parliamentarians; and Elisa Kiesewetter, second vice president.
