SLO County

Meathead Movers and Court Appointed Special Advocates of San Luis Obispo County recently partnered for CASA’s Girls’ Night Out fundraiser at the San Luis Obispo Country Club. Together they raised nearly $20,000 for CASA, including $10,000 in tips earned by tuxedoed Meathead Movers.

All funds raised will enable CASA to continue its work with abused and neglected children in the county.

Atascadero

The St. Williams Knights of Columbus recently held its 7th Annual Open Charity Bocce Tournament at Colony Park in Atascadero.

With 16 teams and 64 players, just over $1,300 was raised to benefit the North County Adaptive Sports and Recreation Program and the Mighty Oaks Warrior Program in San Miguel.

The Price is Right team, consisting of Al Price, Tom Price, Ken Price and Bob Gentry, was the overall winner of the tournament.

Arroyo Grande

The Tree Guild of Arroyo Grande has received a $990 Storm Rewards grant from the Coastal San Luis Resource Conservation District.

The funds will help support a project to enlarge existing tree wells in Arroyo Grande by removing concrete and planting street trees, which will reduce the amount of storm water runoff and protect water quality in the city.

Ten trees will be bought by the guild and planted by its volunteers, while the city will maintain the trees.
