16 local students win scholarships from retired teachers association

SLO County

The California Retired Teachers Association (Division 23) recently presented scholarships to the following students:

Rachel Fulton, Rafael Graciliano, Jessica McGuigan and Marcos Salto of Arroyo Grande High School; Corina Gonzalez of Cal Poly; Cali Singleton of Central Coast New Tech High School; Kassandra Lopez of Lopez High School; Juliana Ruef, Cricket Bidleman and Kendall Schemmer of Morro Bay High School; Laken Hamby of Nipomo High School; Kayla Toledo of Pacific Beach High School; and Andrea Hernandez Galindo, Shaina Morris, Weilu Pan and Jennifer Zakaria of San Luis Obispo High School.

Retired SLO County Superintendent of Schools Dr. Julian Crocker presented the awards at an event at the Madonna Inn.

YMCA
Rabobank recently donated $5,000 to the SLO County YMCA to support the Y’s summer camp programs. The San Luis Obispo County YMCA recently received a donation of $5,000 from Rabobank to support the Y’s summer camp programs.

According to the organization, it provides nine camp sites throughout the county and offers families a safe, reliable and fun option for summer childcare.

The gift from Rabobank’s will help ensure that no child is turned away from a camp because of inability to pay.
