A structure fire caused significant damage to a Templeton medical office complex Saturday afternoon.
Fire crews responded at 1:08 p.m. to a blaze on the 200 block of Posada Lane, according to Chief Bill White of Templeton Fire and Emergency Services.
Only one office was open at the time of the fire, and the only employee in the 8,000-square foot building smelled smoke, evacuated and reported the blaze, White said.
The fire started toward the front of the office building, but flames spread to the attic, causing damage throughout the structure, White said.
Crews throughout North County responded, including Cal Fire, the Paso Robles Department of Emergency Services and the Atascadero Fire Department. Hot weather caused crews to cycle firefighters in and out for safety purposes, he said.
White couldn’t immediately estimate the amount of damage the fire caused, but he said at least one office space in the complex was a total loss.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation, White said.
