In an effort to curb impaired driving, the San Luis Obispo Police Department will have extra officers on duty Friday to patrol for suspected DUI drivers.
In a news release Thursday, the police department announced it will conduct DUI “saturation patrols” from 7 p.m. Friday to 3 a.m. Saturday in areas with high frequencies of DUI arrests and collisions.
During this time, the department will have additional officers on duty, paid for by grant funding from the California Office of Traffic Safety.
Officers will be looking for signs of alcohol and drug impairment as well as checking drivers for proper licensing, police Sgt. John Villanti said.
