Firefighters battle grass fire in Nipomo

Crews contained the vegetation fire at 222 Cimarron Way in Nipomo at 1.7 acres about 2:19 p.m., according to Cal Fire.

No structures were damaged by the fire. The cause of the incident remains under investigation.

Cal Fire says crews are making progress fighting a vegetation fire in Nipomo on Sunday.

The fire began about 11:37 a.m. at 222 Cimarron Way and has burned 2 acres of grass and oak woodlands, a Cal Fire captain said. A couple of structures are threatened by the fire.

Cal Fire, the Santa Maria Fire Department and the Five Cities Fire Authority responded to the incident. Three aircraft and one helicopter were dispatched; the aircraft were released as of 12:25 p.m.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
