Circus Vargas returns to the Central Coast this summer with an illuminating new show.
The traveling circus pitches its blue-and-yellow tent Friday at the Madonna Inn in San Luis Obispo for an 11-day stay.
Circus Vargas’s latest show, “Iluminous,” features special-effects lighting and glow-in-the-dark costumes, publicist Andy Perez said.
Performers include the Flying Tabares trapeze artists, roller skating duo The Skating Torreblancas and “America’s Got Talent” magician and trampoline artist Patrick Marinelli. Also in store are contortionists, clowns, gymnasts and motorcycle daredevils.

Circus Vargas has been coming to the Central Coast annually for five years, Perez said. Before then, it had been 20 or more years since the circus had visited San Luis Obispo.
Tickets for Circus Vargas performances, which run July 1 through July 11, cost $20 to $70.
