Blaze contained at Topaz Solar Farm in Carrizo Plain

Cal Fire crews contained a vegetation fire caused by an animal at Topaz Solar Farm in the Carrizo Plain late Sunday afternoon, according to a Cal Fire dispatcher.

Crews were dispatched at 3:42 p.m. and contained the fire at 5.1 acres about 40 minutes later, the dispatcher said.

One solar panel was damaged in the fire. The estimated cost of the damage was unavailable. There were no injuries from the fire.

One chief officer, seven engines, two hand crews, two dozers and one water tender responded to the incident. An air attack was initially dispatched and later canceled.

The cause of the fire was an animal, the dispatcher said. She did not have additional details.
