Cal Poly professor creates ‘Crime Tracker’ notification

A Cal Poly computer science professor has created a new way for San Luis Obispo residents to learn about crime near their homes.

John Seng has created an online form for residents to receive emails about crimes that take place in their vicinity.

The form, called “SLO Crime Tracker,” will send an email the day after any reported San Luis Obispo police activity within the specified radius of the address listed. Emails are sent weekdays between noon and 1 p.m.

Users who register may designate the radius for which they’d like to find out about incidents. Already, more than 250 people have signed up.

The form can be found on the following website: https://goo.gl/mSnKW9.
