The Classic at Pismo Beach Car Show will come to downtown Pismo Beach from Friday morning through Sunday evening, and authorities are reminding the public that traffic in the area is expected to be congested.
The 31st annual car show will be held Friday and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Roads will be open on Friday, but starting 6 a.m. on Saturday, the following roads will be closed: Price Street between Bay and Hinds avenues, Pomeroy Street from Price Street to the pier parking lot, Cypress Street from Main to Stimson Avenue and the 100 and 200 blocks of Hinds avenue, according to a Pismo Beach Police Department news release.
Cmdr. Shawn Singleton said he expects the roads will reopen about 8 p.m. Saturday. The roads could also be closed on Sunday, depending on the number of people at the show that day, but Singleton said that has not been necessary in past years.
Traffic on southbound Highway 101 through Pismo Beach is expected to slow because of the annual event.
