Atascadero Lake lovers will celebrate the North County landmark on Saturday with a new summer tradition.

Friends of Atascadero Lake will host the first LakeFest at Atascadero Lake Park from noon to 5 p.m. The event is designed to draw support for the lake — which suffered during the drought — and will feature games, food and demonstrations, including a cardboard boat-making competition, a bounce house and a beer garden.

Music will be provided by 100.5 The Beach, which will broadcast live from the event, and the SLO County Band, which will perform a concert at 2 p.m.

The event is free and open to the public. For more information, visit www.friendsofatascaderolake.com.
