The second phase of a widening project on Price Canyon Road is expected to start Thursday with a groundbreaking ceremony.
The project will improve driver and bicyclist safety by providing full road shoulders from Ormonde Road to Highway 227 and creating continuous bike lanes between San Luis Obispo and the Five Cities area, according to a news release.
The total cost of the project is estimated at $7.7 million and is being funded by grants from the State Transportation Improvement Program and the Federal Congestion Mitigation and Air Quality Program.
The San Luis Obispo County Department of Public Works will hold a groundbreaking ceremony for the long-awaited project at 1:30 p.m. at the intersection of Price Canyon Road and Highway 227.
