A reported gas leak caused Cal Fire to close roads in Avila Beach on Tuesday morning, although investigators later cleared the area and returned customers’ service.
Residents on San Miguel Street reported smelling gas about 10:47 a.m., according to Cal Fire.
Responders evacuated the area and temporarily closed San Miguel between First Street and Avila Beach Drive.
Representatives from Southern California Gas were unable to locate a leak and eventually restored service to the eight customers whose gas was shut off during the investigation.
