Arroyo Grande man suffers major injuries in crash after allegedly driving under the influence

An Arroyo Grande man suffered major injuries in a single-vehicle crash after allegedly driving under the influence Saturday night.

About 8:08 p.m., Dean Clark, 49, was driving a 2005 Dodge pickup eastbound on Los Berros Road in rural Arroyo Grande, according to a CHP news release.

Clark’s vehicle drifted off the roadway west of Milton Street and ran into a tree north of the roadway edge of Los Berros Road, the news release said.

Clark was unconscious when the CHP arrived on the scene, the car’s air bag had deployed and he was not wearing his seatbelt. Clark was transported to the Marian Regional Medical Center in Santa Maria for his injuries.

Clark was arrested on suspicion of misdemeanor driving under the influence. Because of his injuries he was released to the hospital, according to the news release.
