Arroyo Grande trash rates will increase in January as part of the South County Sanitary Service’s three-year schedule for base rate increases.
Rates will increase by 3.25 percent starting Jan. 1 for collection, diversion and disposal of solid waste within the city. Residential accounts will increase from $16.30 to $16.82 for a 32-gallon trash container; from $21.17 to $21.86 for a 64-gallon container; and from $26.07 to $26.92 for a 96-gallon container.
The scheduled increase is part of South County Sanitary Service’s franchise agreement with the city of Arroyo Grande. The agreement allows for a base rate adjustment every three years to compensate for changes in operational costs.
The city of Pismo Beach is scheduled to consider the rate increase at its meeting Oct. 20.
