The Foundation for the Performing Arts Center’s Encore Endowment Campaign received key financial support from the San Luis Obispo County Board of Supervisors, according to a news release.

The $250,000 donation to the Encore Campaign will help secure the Performing Arts Center’s future including expansion of the free School Matinee Program, discounted rental rates for local arts organizations and a state-of-the-art community gathering place.

A diverse group of artists, education and business leaders gave testimonies in support of the Foundation for the Performing Arts Center at the supervisors’ June 10 budget meeting.

The PAC foundation is a nonprofit organization that contributes annually to support the center’s operations.

The city of San Luis Obispo, Cal Poly and the community through the Foundation cover the remaining 55 percent of the Performing Art Center’s annual operations costs that aren’t covered from hall rental and technical fees.

The Encore Endowment Campaign will expand the foundation’s current endowment to more than $5 million by raising $2.5 million in cash gifts and $1.25 million in deferred gifts by Sept. 30.
