Elections, reading and good wine in San Miguel

The San Miguel Advisory Council will hold elections Wednesday before its regular meeting at the Community Building behind the library at the park. Alley access is from 12th Street.

Voters will choose four board members and two alternates.

A pre-election meeting will begin at 6 p.m. followed by the election at 6:30 p.m. All registered voters in the San Miguel area are eligible to vote.

The League of Women Voters will oversee the election. The regular meeting begins at 7 p.m.

The Advisory Council is a liaison to the San Luis Obispo County Board of Supervisors and the planning department.

Children may still sign up for the summer reading program at San Miguel Library.

Winning wines

Mystic Hills Vineyard near San Miguel has received additional awards and recognition for superior wines.

The prestigious annual San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition awarded its 2011 Unforgiven red blend a Gold Medal and both its 2011 Sequel red blend and cabernet sauvignon received silver medals.

Its newly released 2013 Rosé received a silver medal in the dry category at the 2015 Rosé Competition at SIMI Winery in Napa — along with high praise from many wine connoisseurs.
