A Cal Poly architecture student died Friday as he drove home to Washington state to attend his  brother’s high school graduation ceremony, according to a Facebook post by his mother.

Matt Lazier, director of media relations at Cal Poly, confirmed Saturday that Keigen Langholff was killed in a car accident on Friday. No other details, such as the time or location of the crash, were immediately available.

Langholff, a Port Orchard, Wash., native who lived in San Luis Obispo, enrolled at Cal Poly last year.

“(Keigen) was so proud to have been accepted into the architecture program there and had an amazing year,” his mother, Amy Phipps Langholff‎, wrote in a post on the Cal Poly Parent Community Group on Facebook. “We worried sometimes he was working too hard, and hadn't made many connections, but it is evident by the outpouring on this page and his page that he made an impact in a short amount of time.”

Keigen Langholff’s younger brother, Konner, was scheduled to graduate from Klahowya Secondary School in Silverdale, Wash.,on Saturday.

Konner Langholff shared his grief on Twitter, writing on Friday, “I love you big brother. I dont know how im gonna make it through this but im gonna be strong for you.”
