Southbound traffic on Higuera Street is now flowing normally and northbound traffic will remain closed between Granada Drive and Prado Road for about two more hours, San Luis Obispo Fire Department Battalion Chief Neal Berryman said.
UPDATE 1:30 p.m.: Maintenance crews continued working on correcting a gas line break through 1:30 p.m.
Traffic is backed up in both the north and southbound lanes on South Higuera Street, and drivers are encouraged to use an alternate route if available.

San Luis Obispo Fire Department Battalion Chief Neal Berryman said crews expect to re-open southbound lanes between Prado Road and Granada Drive at about 3 p.m.
Northbound lanes are currently being re-routed through a frontage road.
Original story: A gas line break has caused a partial closure of South Higuera Street in San Luis Obispo late Friday morning.
The San Luis Obispo Fire Department said at about 11:50 a.m. that road crews are working to fix the break, but traffic is being diverted from South Higuera between Prado Road and Granada Drive.
More details were not immediately available. A fire department representative said a battalion chief currently on scene will provide an update within the hour.
