The public has a chance to take a ride in a 1929 Ford Tri-Motor airplane this week as the Experimental Aircraft Association brings its Fly the Ford tour to San Luis Obispo County.

The association is offering 30-minute rides (with 15 minutes in the air) at the Paso Robles Municipal Airport on Friday and Saturday and at the San Luis Obispo County Regional Airport on Sunday and Monday. Rides will take place from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. each day.

On Thursday, media and volunteers flew around the city of Paso Robles in the vintage plane, which features about 10 seats, all by windows. Photographer David Middlecamp described the route as “a leisurely circle” over a sprawling landscape of oak trees and vineyards.

Advance tickets are $70 for adults and $50 for children age 17 and younger; and $75 for adults and $50 for children at the airport on the day of the event. Children age 2 and younger ride for free in an adult’s lap. Adults must accompany riders age 15 and younger. To book a flight, call 1-877-952-5395 or visit www.flytheford.org.
