Construction is underway on a multi-use trail and bridge project intended to connect north Morro Bay and the Embarcadero.
The bike and pedestrian path will branch off from the existing waterfront trail at the west end of Coleman Park. The asphalt and concrete path will proceed north along the dirt stretch of Embarcadero and connect with a new bike and pedestrian bridge over Morro Creek.
The project is expected to be completed by July 3 in time for a planned ribbon-cutting by U.S. Rep. Lois Capps before the July 4 Bike Parade.
The project was funded by the National Scenic Byways Program, Federal Highway Transportation Enhancement Funds, the SLOCOG Regional Transportation Improvement Program, and the city of Morro Bay.
