UPDATE 3:20 p.m.: Joan Mello was located at about 11:45 a.m. near the 700 block of Gardenia Circle in Paso Robles unresponsive in a grove of trees off a nearby walking path.
Sgt. Tod Rehner said Friday afternoon that Mello eventually responded to emergency crews and was taken to Twin Cities Community Hospital in Templeton.
A spokesperson for the hospital was not immediately available, but Rehner said Mello was in stable condition when emergency personnel took her to the hospital.
He said it appeared she had been exposed to the elements overnight.
Original story: The Paso Robles Police Department is asking for the public’s help in locating an at-risk missing person.
Joan Mello, 61, was reported missing Thursday night after Mello left her home on foot in an unknown direction, leaving her wallet and cellphone behind, according to a news release Friday.
Mello is considered at risk because of her age and other health-related issues, police say.
