Six San Luis Obispo County grocery stores will close next week for about two days and reopen as Haggen supermarkets.

The Bellingham, Wash., company said in December that it was buying 146 Albertsons, Vons, Pavilions and Safeway stores, including 83 in California, according to the Los Angeles Times.

The Federal Trade Commission ordered Albertsons and Safeway to sell those stores as part of their recent merger.

The affected supermarkets in San Luis Obispo County are four Albertsons and two Vons stores. Two North County stores will be the first to change: Albertsons in Atascadero at 8200 El Camino Real and Vons in Paso Robles at 1191 E. Creston Road will both close at 6 p.m. April 5.

Haggen will take ownership at 12:01 a.m. April 6 and reopen at 4 p.m. April 7.

Two Albertsons stores in San Luis Obispo, at 771 Foothill Blvd. and 1321 Johnson Ave., will close at 6 p.m. April 7 and reopen at 4 p.m. April 9.

Finally, the Albertsons in Arroyo Grande, at 1132 W. Branch St., and the Vons store in Los Osos, at 1130 Los Osos Valley Road, will close at 6 p.m. April 9 and reopen at 4 p.m. April 11.

With the acquisition, Haggen Inc. will expand from 18 stores and 16 pharmacies to 164 stores and 106 pharmacies across Washington, Oregon, California, Nevada and Arizona.
