Residents of Avila Beach and surrounding areas will have a chance to publicly air concerns about the upcoming Amgen Tour of California bike route through their communities.
The in-depth preview on March 31 will cover public safety, parking, road closures, and international media coverage, among other issues.
Starting May 13 in Pismo Beach, Stage 4 of the eight-day race will pass through Grover Beach, Oceano, Santa Maria, Nipomo, Arroyo Grande and San Luis Obispo on a 107-mile loop before finishing in Avila Beach. The 10th annual tour across the Golden State will take place from May 10-17, starting in Sacramento and finishing in Pasadena.
The meeting will take place at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 31 at the Pacific Gas and Electric Co. Energy Education Center at 6588 Ontario Road, off Highway 101 near Avila Beach.
It will be hosted by the Avila Beach Tourism Alliance, with representatives attending from the San Luis Obispo County and the Amgen Tour of California.
