Movie lovers flocked to the Fremont Theatre in downtown San Luis Obispo for opening night of the 21st San Luis Obispo International Film Festival.
The festival kicked off Tuesday night with a screening of the coming-of-age dramedy “The Road Within,” which was attended by writer-director Gren Wells, producer Brent Emery and actors Robert Sheehan and Alli Hillis. The San Luis Obispo International Film Festival, which runs through Sunday, features film screenings, panel discussions, red carpet events and receptions at venues throughout San Luis Obispo County.
Highlights include Surf Nite in SLO on Thursday and the Independent Film and King Vidor Awards on Saturday. Both events will be held at the Fremont Theatre.

‘FEAR NO FRUIT’
What: This documentary focuses on wholesale produce pioneer Frieda Caplan, who introduced more than 200 exotic fruits and vegetables to American consumers. Caplan and director Mark Brian Smith will participate in a question-and-answer session.
