The San Miguel Community Services District Board has decided to fill by appointment the vacant position created with the resignation of Richard Harrison.
An election could cost the district more than $16,000. Anyone interested in serving may submit a letter stating their qualifications to the District Office at 1150 Mission St. prior to the deadline of Thursday, March 12.
Notices are posted in key locations and on the district website. For questions and further information, contact district General Manager Darrell Gentry at 467-3388. The next meeting of the board is Thursday, March 26, at 7 p.m. at the district office.
Let the anticipation begin: Forms are available to participate in the annual Sagebrush Days events on Saturday, April 18.

Winners of the recent annual club level of the California Lions Clubs’ High School Speaker Contest were Ashley Coates and Mason Hargrave, who will advance to the zone level.
The 2014-15 topic is “Water Conservation — How Can We Reduce, Recycle, and Reclaim?”
Contest levels go from zone to regional, district, area and final. Students win money and scholarships. Coates attended Lillian Larsen Elementary School. Congratulations to both winners!
