A downed signal pole has prompted the closure of the northbound Highway 101 off-ramp at Los Osos Valley Road for the next few days, San Luis Obispo officials said.
The ramp was closed Thursday afternoon after an excavator hit a cable that was holding up a signal pole, ripping the signal pole off at the base, project manager Jason Bennecke said.
Depending on how quickly a new pole can be obtained, the ramp could remain closed until Saturday or Sunday, he said. Drivers traveling north on the highway can detour by exiting at South Higuera Street or Prado Road.
Work is currently ongoing to improve the Los Osos Valley Road/Highway 101 interchange.
The $33 million project eventually will widen Los Osos Valley Road to four lanes from the Calle Joaquin intersection to South Higuera Street.
